Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a highly technical martial art designed to allow a smaller person to efficiently defeat a larger opponent through the proper use of body positioning, balance and leverage.

The BJJ sessions at Elements Fitness involve all aspects of grappling from the clinch to the ground and include instruction on entering, throwing, joint locking, pinning and choking. Taught by an experienced and professional blackbelt coach these jiu jitsu classes are structured around a progressive, measurable, and consistent training curriculum designed to be effective for sport BJJ, Mixed Martial Arts and self defence.

We offer different jiu jitsu classes to suit a variety of schedules, skill levels and interests.

Fundamental BJJ

The Fundamental BJJ classes are the primary Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at Elements. Suitable for all levels, from beginner to advanced, these classes cover the core principles, theories and techniques of BJJ. You will be taught how to transition, attack and defend in every position and see dramatic improvements in your overall jiu jitsu knowledge and skill. These class include drilling, technical work as well as situational and free sparring.

Beginning students should make a Fundamentals class their first.

Fundamental classes run

6.30am to 8am Tuesday (no gi) and Thursday

6.30pm to 8pm Tuesday (no gi) and Thursday

1.30pm to 3pm Saturday

10.30am to 11.30am Sunday (no gi)

12.30pm to 1.30pm Monday (no gi), Wednesday and Friday.

Women’s BJJ

The Women’s BJJ classes are guided by an experienced blackbelt instructor and are run in a fun, friendly atmosphere designed specifically for women to grow and learn quickly. These classes are suitable for all levels including beginning students.

Women’s BJJ classes run

6.30pm to 8pm Monday and Wednesday (no gi)

12.30pm to 1.30pm Saturday.

Advanced BJJ

The Advanced BJJ classes explore the deep concepts and principles of Jiu Jitsu to improve performance against high level opponents. The strategic use of drilling and situational sparring teaches you how to combine basic and complex techniques into a comprehensive strategy with an emphasis on developing an attacking, submission oriented style.

These classes are open to anyone who is ranked blue belt or above.

Advanced BJJ classes run

5.30pm to 6.30pm Tuesday and Thursday.

BJJ Drilling

The BJJ Drilling classes are designed for the rapid development of jiu jitsu specific movements and fitness. Through the use of intelligent repetition these classes help you internalise the mechanics and principles of the art and commit the core movements to muscle memory.

Drilling classes run

5.30pm to 6.30pm Monday and Wednesday (no gi).

12.30pm to 1.30pm Tuesday and Thursday (no gi).

BJJ Competition Training

The BJJ Competition Training classes focus on developing the skills and strategies specific to sport Jiu Jitsu and are geared toward preparing you physically and mentally for tournaments.

These classes are open to members who are ranked one stripe or above.

Competition Training classes run

6.30pm to 7.30pm Monday and Wednesday (no gi).


A Martial Arts Membership includes the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, JudoFreestyle Wrestling and Muay Thai programs.


A Martial Arts Membership is $50 per week

Casual Class $30
